Commissions

Commissions usually begin with a friendly, informal chat about what you want. It’s often best to hold this in your home or office where the proposed piece of furniture is going to stand. We’ll talk about what it’s for, what style you have in mind, what kind of wood you’d like, when you need it and how big your budget is.

I’ll then come up with some design ideas and likely costs that we can talk about in more detail.

Once we’ve agreed on the precise brief I’ll produce some technical drawings, a detailed specification and a price quote for you to sign off before I schedule the work.

At this stage I’ll ask you to make a deposit to cover the cost of timber, other materials and preliminary work. The balance would normally be payable upon delivery, although in the case of a complex project we would agree on phased payments as the work progresses.

Updates

I’ll send you regular e-mail updates and photos of the project as it takes shape, and of course you’d be welcome to visit the workshop by appointment to see the piece under construction.

I can also supply you with a copy of the original drawings for you to keep.
